What sets CuramLife’s Concierge service apart from our competitors? The CuramLife Concierge service can help your employees get the lowest self-pay outcome for an upcoming high-expense medical procedure using a hospital’s financial assistance program and obtaining Good Faith Estimates under the No Surprises Act.
The No Surprises Act is designed to protect patients from receiving unexpected medical bills. This Act mandates that Good Faith Estimates must be provided to all uninsured or self-pay patients. So, what is a Good Faith Estimate?
A Good Faith Estimate (GFE) includes expected charges for an upcoming medical service, like facility fees, hospital fees, room and board, and the cost of the medical procedure. Because GFEs are only used to estimate the expected charges for one medical procedure, they typically don’t include services scheduled separately (e.g. pre-surgery appointments, physical therapy) or any additional items/services your doctor did not anticipate before providing care.
A Good Faith Estimate must include an itemized list with specific details of expected charges during your medical procedure, either printed on paper or emailed, and in a format accessible to you (e.g. large print, braille, audio).
When scheduling an upcoming medical procedure, please note you are NOT entitled to a Good Faith Estimate if it is scheduled less than three (3) business days in advance. If an upcoming procedure is scheduled 3-9 business days in advance, you’ll receive the GFE within 1 business day. If an upcoming procedure is scheduled 10+ business days in advance, you will receive the GFE within 3 business days.
Hospitals are required to follow these rules, and any patient can request Good Faith Estimates on their own. However, with the CuramLife Concierge team at your service, you don’t have to. If you prefer, you can reach out the Concierge team and we’ll obtain the Good Faith Estimate for you. Simply call us at (888) 282-8726 as soon as you know you have an upcoming medical procedure.
